Project press conference in Novi Sad

Within the IPA CBC Croatia-Serbia 2007-2013 programme framework – Project Flood protection infrastructure restoration and development of cross-border system for protecting people and natural assets from floods (ForestFlow) – which will be implemented during 2017 and 2018.

Opening conference will be held in Novi Sad at the Hotel “Novi Sad”, from 17th to 19th  of January 2017.

The conference represents an opportunity to present possible ways in which the project will contribute to the recovery of devastated Srem County in the Republic of Serbia and Vukovar-Srijem County in the Republic of Croatia after the flood in 2014.

As part of the planned project activities the focus will be on the reconstruction of facilities damaged by floods, on securing and developing more efficient systems in operation to prevent flooding in the border area of ​​ Spačva-Bosut forest basin and access roads in case of emergencies. Also, a significant segment of the project is restoring the population of deer which has been severly affected by floods and construction of supporting facilities (feeding, watering place) for wildlife reintroduction in the area affected by floods.

Participants of the conference will be the representatives of partner institutions from the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Croatia. The objectives of the project will be met through the cooperation of the Public Enterprise “Vojvodinašume” and Hrvatske šume, Forest directorate Vinkovci, with the support of other participants: Public Water Management Company „Vode Vojvodine“, Hrvatske Vode, Institute of Lowland Forestry and Environment from Novi Sad and Institute for Development and International Relations from Zagreb.
